Happy 2016! And a writing prompt to start your year!
Dear Friends,
Happy 2016!
I'm sending this electronic postcard out into the world to start your year with a little creativity and poetry. May your year be full of all you desire.
And I send you this, a writing prompt to begin your year:
First Poem of the Year:
Write a poem to the new year. Begin the poem with how you're feeling towards this year--hopeful, excited, concerned, anxious? Use images to show your feelings-- maybe "hopeful" is the image of a bottle of champagne on the bookshelf waiting for its celebration or maybe "concerned" is a sparrow perched in a bare cherry tree overlooking a construction site. Be specific, be fresh, and be open to writing whatever comes into your mind (you can always revise later). If you're having trouble beginning the poem, start with, "2016, you bring me..." or "2016, your calendar holds..."
Have fun!

Thank you all for your support of my art.
Last night while my family slept through midnight and my husband (the firefighter) kept the city safe many miles away, I wrote a poem to end the year. Writing is an act of faith and hope in the world. I hope you each keep finding ways to bring poetry into your lives and into the world of others.
Oh and because I don't understand how to work our television, while the rest of the world watched the ball drop in NYC or the Space Needle light up the sky, I watched the Woodland Park Zoo Batcam where the fruitbats celebrated in only ways fruitbats can... http://www.zoo.org/batcam (Note: if you go to it during the day, many times there is a bat sleeping over the lens--which I find adorable. They get active--as do many creatives do--at night.)
Wishing you a dazzling year, friends! Thanks for being a part of my creative circle.
xo,
Kells
