Wishing you a little magic in 2018!
Dear Friend,
Just a note to say Happy New Year and share a little story of how my day began...
When my daughter was seven or eight, she had bought me a button that said "Moms Rock." I have kept it on the visor of my car since 2008, but this summer I sold my car and while I thought we had taken everything out of the car, the pin was lost.
This morning on an early morning walk about a half mile from my home, I saw a silver circle on a bench at a bus stop. For some reason it caught my eye enough that I walked over to it and flipped it over to find it was the button I had lost 5 months ago.
It's smashed, definitely having been run over multiple times since I lost it, but someone must have found it somewhere and thinking it may be important to someone, placed it on the bench. I have no idea how it got there, but finding today felt as if I was starting the new year with just a bit of magic and surprise.
May we each continue to do the things throughout the year that make the world a little better. Maybe it's holding a door for a stranger or helping a lost dog find its way back to its owner. Maybe it's writing a thank you note or maybe it's writing a poem.
Whatever you do in your daily life to help make this world a better place for all of us, thank you.
And all those thoughtful acts you do that may never get a personal acknowledgment or thank you, they matter. Even the smallest act matters, may my smashed ten-year-old $1 button remind us of that.
Sending love and hopefully, a little magic to you this 2018.
Thank you for being part of my literary circle and life.
xo,
Kelli
