Thank you Kelli,

I share your strategy of noticing small wonders. In 2021 I started writing a Haiku every morning, (printing it in the daily square of the calendar), to force me to look for something around me I hadn't notice, or to see a thing I use every day in a new way. It is a life giving practice. I now have a 4 year record of the connections I made with the world. Happy Valentine's Day

Yesterday's Haiku:

bright sunny days

night still governs behavior

full moon tries to help

Love this! We have a friend who writes Haiku when he's on vacation with us--it's a great way to notice what's around you!

I also have noticed how what I see, and thus what I write, is greatly affected by events, news, my up/down cycles. My feelings at the time are reflected in the Haiku.

Haiku are often the first breath of a longer poem.

Thank you Kelli. My heart is broken for so many reasons. Thank you for this little beacon.

I completely understand. I've been doing something similar, trying to live less online because I get flooded with the images, esp. political, though I try to stay on top of things. Yes to paper journals. Doing art helps me, too. Peace and love to you! (I love that photo of Adrienne Rich - I'd never see it before.) <3
